Ávila: amurallando la defensa de la Vida
La teoría era que saliésemos de la Merced a las seis de la mañana. Debido a una cena tardía y al cansancio general tras un fin de semana demoledor, no nos pusimos en marcha hasta las siete. El camino por la Sierra es agradable en las horas tempranas, a pesar de las cuestas, por la brisa fresca y el aire limpio. Según sube el sol, sin embargo, se hace un tanto más pesado.
Amurallando la defensa de la VidaLlegamos con todo, y con nuestro sistema de turnos simultáneos, poco antes de la hora de comer a Ávila. Ahí lo primero que hicimos fue ir al palacio episcopal, pues nos recibía el Sr. Obispo, D. Jesús García Burillo. Por circunstancias imprevistas, el Sr. Obispo tuvo que ausentarse urgentemente, con lo cual la audiencia fue aplazada a la tarde.
De ahí nos dirigimos al cercano ayuntamiento, donde también teníamos apalabrada una visita con nuestros manifiestos de Aborto Cero, para hacer llegar nuestras propuestas a los representantes municipales. Nos recibieron el teniente alcalde y la teniente alcalde de asuntos sociales. Se nota siempre una diferencia entre la forma de hablar de un político con cargo y el de cualquier hijo de vecino. Es un lenguaje recargado y cuidadoso en el que se recurren a frases hechas y claves para decir poco o nada con muchas palabras. Un ejemplo:
En el Ayuntamiento de Ávila
“Desde la municipalidad es evidente que representamos las diversas sensibilidades de la gente de Ávila. Con todo, y con franqueza, el equipo de gobierno tiene una clara preferencia más por unas sensibilidades que por otras. Particularmente en un tema tan importante como el de la vida nos sentimos más cercanos a vuestras sensibilidades que a otras”. Vamos, que queremos que todo el mundo nos vote y no queremos cabrear al personal.
Con todo, dentro del habitualpolitiqués, fueron amables, e incluso ofrecieron una visita guiada por las murallas de Ávila. Y lo que es más importante, escucharon con atención nuestra defensa del derecho a la vida desde la concepción hasta la muerte natural así como nuestra exigencia de que se siguiera avanzando en el respeto al derecho a la vida desde el gobierno. Al irse llevaron consigo información sobre la campaña de Aborto Cero y prometieron trasladar las propuestas y nuestros comentarios al alcalde.

Después ya de la comida, fuimos al Palacio Episcopal de nuevo, para asistir a la audiencia pospuesta y poder recibir la bendición al Sr. obispo, quien, tras felicitarnos por la iniciativa y prometer encomendarnos en sus oraciones, nos conminó a arraigar nuestros esfuerzos en la oración, que es lo que nos pone en relación con Cristo, que es la Vida. Salimos, pues, reforzados de la reunión con el Obispo y con su bendición a retomar nuestras actividades con más empuje si cabe que nunca.
